Couch to CrossFit is our brand new beginners introduction to CrossFit.

'Couch to CrossFit' is a personalised program where we match your current fitness level (whether you're literally on the couch - or already at a good base fitness) with the appropriate CrossFit Movements. Ultimately, you will learn most of the basic movements but we customise your experience to make sure you can complete every class.

Not only are the classes customised to your needs, but the first two weeks of the course are booked to meet YOUR schedule. So whether you'd prefer to train in the morning, afternoon or evening, we can accommodate your busy lifestyle.

How does it work?

Step 1:
If you've already reserved your introductory beginner session, you've already completed step 1!
If not, once you submit your enrolment on this page we'll contact you to schedule your first session.
Step 2:
Attend a total of FOUR beginner classes over a period of two weeks. At the end of these two weeks you'll have discovered CrossFit at your own pace and within your unique physical capabilities.
Step 3:
Attend your third and fourth weeks of the program where you transition into our CrossFit community classes. Based on your first two weeks we'll provide guidance on recommended classes.

What Perth is saying about CrossFit Quarter Melville...
We decided to give CrossFit a go after a friend posted the details on Facebook. We both had heard a bit about CrossFit and were keen to try something different that was going to push us. We looked at the class timetable and thought there are quite a few to choose from and being working parents we thought that it could fit into our schedules. So we signed up and have not looked back.

We initially thought it would be intimidating walking into our 1st foundations class, as I thought that I was going to be useless and hold everyone up. But I can honestly say that from the 1st class we have been made to feel very welcome and to do what we feel confident with. The foundations classes are really thorough and give you a good grounding on the movements. It doesn’t stop there, after foundations they really keep an eye on the newbies and make you feel part of the team as they ease you into the movements and help you improve week to week. I see the other guys or girls in the class who are lifting heavier than me or doing pull ups without a band as an inspiration, rather than intimidation.

I love the feeling of finishing a WOD, sometimes you turn up at CFQ and look at the work out and think ‘how am I going to get through that ?” And you do and I think, I’m so glad I came today!! We love the sense of community at CFQ and have always felt welcome. The coaches are so friendly and approachable and I love that when they are not coaching they join in and do a class as well.

We thoroughly recommend Crossfit Quarter to anyone looking at either starting to get fit or wanting to push themselves.

I joined CFQ 12 months ago and I haven’t looked back.

Will I get 'bulky' from doing CrossFit?
No, you won't!

Our workouts consist of a variety of weightlifting, gymnastics and cardio, helping you to gain a well-rounded, balanced level of fitness. These combinations of movements accompanied with a healthy diet is the perfect combination to lose fat and build lean muscle.

As we build lean muscle our bodies become more efficient at burning calories, this means your body becomes more toned and most importantly, you'll be healthier, fitter and stronger.

So, if you're concerned it will happen by accident - it won't.
I haven't exercised in a long time. Is that a problem?
Absolutely not and we stand by our comments that we can take anyone off the street and tailor a CrossFit workout to their fitness level and ability.

Everything we do in the gym is scalable, whether it be by weight, range, design or rep schemes meaning that we can adjust for any age, strength, skill level or previous experience.

Part of the initial sessions is getting to know a bit more about your lifestyle and current level of fitness, as well as taking a look at your current movement patterns so we can adjust accordingly.

As for the 'lifting weights' part of it... surprisingly, 80% of people who start CrossFit have NEVER conducted similar weights training and are all starting from a very basic level. 

Many of our clients sit at desks all day during work, in which case there is a good chance that hip and thoracic (upper back) mobility is impaired. This is all considered in helping you achieve sustainable progress on your journey (i.e. without injury).

CrossFit is suitable for all fitness levels. And you certainly don’t need to “get fit” before you start CrossFit. The most effective way to get fit is to get started and jump in.
How long are the classes?
Your first introductory session will run for one hour. Then the four “Couch to CrossFit” introductory sessions will each run for 1-1.5 hours depending on how much detail we need to delve into based on any previous experience. 

Once you progress to the normal scheduled classes you will find the duration of the workout portion varies according to the style of the "workout of the day" (WOD).

However, you can plan always plan on each class lasting 60 minutes. This includes all warm-ups, mobility, strength/skill work, the main workout and a cool-down/stretch.
Why is CrossFit more expensive than a conventional gym?
CrossFit is not really comparable to a typical gym where you can attend where you like and are left to your own devices.

The value for money when you consider the high level of coaching you will receive, the consistency of attendance from engaging programming and the value of belonging to an awesome community is unparalleled.

Whilst there are many technical differences, the MAIN difference of CrossFit is the personal attention you receive and the RESULTS you achieve.

Is this like F45?
CrossFit Quarter (CFQ) Melville is not like F45.

The technical definition of CrossFit is "constantly varied high intensity functional movement" that always keeps you challenged. However, more specifically, the training approach at CFQ is extremely personalised, even after you've completed the introductory beginner sessions. Whilst you are always training in a group environment, you are only focusing on beating your own personal bests.

The variety of CrossFit workouts keeps members interested meaning that you are constantly challenging yourselves, so one day you might be working on strength, the next going long and improving your cardio, then the next sprinting etc… so your body can never plateau and get used to the training load to ensure that you constantly improve.

Additionally, if you are performing at a high level, there is no limit on what you can achieve.

Our coaches are also highly trained, there to coach you in improving your movements rather than simply cheer you on. They are always on hand to make sure you understand the movements required and to provide you personal feedback on correct technique.
